About Auris Cibum
Auris Cibum collects 9 tracks and 41 minutes of unreleased music spanning early 2008 til 2013. These are odds and ends that never made their way into the albums released during those years.
These tracks range in mood and emotion from the angry abstractness of “Alec’s Empirical Precursor” to the dark downtempo of “Embassy Day/Night” to the light-hearted space cha-cha of “Revenge of the Tikoy” to the melancholy of “Happyland” and the uptempo house beat of “Appy Polly Logies.”
The only thing that draws these nine tracks together is the combination of emotive melodies and the synthetic textures and IDM-influenced tones.
About the Title
Auris Cibum is a combination of Auris, which is Latin for “gold” or “ear” and Cibum, which is Latin for “meal.” I put the phrase together with no knowledge of proper syntax in Latin, hoping to create an archaic-sounding reference to music being “ear candy” or “ear food” or the “golden meal” fed through the ears.
